The sensational vocalist of the Saskatchewan based hip-hop duo Samurai Champs dropped a heater of an EP on us along with a new single "Manipulate". But he isn't finished with us. This Friday a secret track will be revealed and added to i'm not sad and I am extremely stoked for this surprise track, really curious what he has hidden. "10am" and "Intralock" have been out for a bit but that doesn't mean they aren't still amazing tracks. "10am" with its sultry keys and a hell of a melody warms you into the project, but leaves you begging for more. More is delivered in "Intralock" where Merv xx Gotti belts it out to you as if from space. The ambient nature of this song can take you to another galaxy in your mind, causing you to lose all worries and just enjoy time and space as it stands, for the moment.

The newer tracks "Manipulate" and "Welcome to Marvin's Room" (we premiered the music video here) still stay true to the rest of the project, even with the two year gap between singles. It is safe to say Merv xx Gotti has harnessed his abilities and put forth two incredibly strong tracks. "Manipulate" plays with you with attractive vocal panning throughout the song, best to listen to with noise-cancelling headphones. God damn is it a good sounding song. As the title suggests the lyrics portay a manipulating proposition where Merv xx Gotti is telling his person to leave him but really wants them to deny and stick with him even more than before. "Welcome to Marvin's Room" is the story of Marvin himself. Battling with introspective thoughts and desires, Marvin tends to struggle with finding balance and more often then not his passions inevitably take over. I'm not sad is a spectacular project (so far) and I imagine will be even more so after the secret track is released tomorrow. Keep your ear to the ground because this upcoming track might be his best yet. Listen to the current build of the EP below.
