JEAH "DEAD BOY" (MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE)
Hailing from the “Bridge City” - Saskatoon, SK, Jeah is an emerging Canadian recording and performing hip-hop artist. Part of WCMA-nominated hip-hop/R&B duo, DGS Samurai Champs, Jeah combines his love for traditional, 90’s-era hip-hop with his dedication to modern hip-hop songwriting. This integration creates Jeah’s signature melancholic, yet heavy-hitting, approach to contemporary hip-hop reminiscent of artists such as Drake, Kanye West, and Travi$ Scott.
Following his return from DGS Samurai Champs’ first international tour surrounding The Great Escape festival in Brighton, UK and New Skool Rules hip-hop festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Jeah premieres the music video for his brand new single, “Deadboy”. Deadboy is an interpretation of traditional, underground hip-hop channeled through the more electronic sounds of today’s modern hip-hop. The single is Jeah’s demonstration of his technical prowess as a rapper, but also as a storyteller telling the hard truth to the modern artist. Employing elaborate verses and cocky punchlines in true, traditional hip-hop fashion, Jeah elaborates on the need to act upon one’s creative aspirations if one is to truly create impact. Jeah explains that without action, there are no outcomes.
“I feel like there’s no time to waste. I’ve been patient long enough. People feel as if they’re ‘the one’ but do nothing about it. Patience is time wasted. It’s now or never if we’re going to make something out of the talent in this province.” - Jeah
Directed and shot by Vancouver based filmmaker Sam Acton King. With less than 3 hours for the two to collaborate one cold Saskatchewan day in January, they decided to feature the snowy back-alleys and winter fields of Jeah’s hometown, Regina, Saskatchewan.
"For me this video is about the characters we all as people tend create for ourselves to act as a suit of armour, and how those characters are often heavily influenced by our geography." - Sam Acton King
The single itself was produced, mixed, and mastered by Saskatoon-based hip-hop producer Deadkeys.
Jeah is currently preparing for his performance with DGS Samurai Champs in their collective’s first, brand new flagship Saskatoon event, Trifecta Block Party.
